Dana and Ben’s journey towards welcoming Oliver home a few weeks ago isn’t that much different from the many other parents who decide to tackle the long and difficult adoption process… except for the part where they had to wait an entire year longer after seeing Ollie for the first time, before they had the chance to hold him in their arms.
I first met Ben and Dana when Stacey and I photographed my nephew Beau’s homecoming from Korea last year. From the moment we started talking, I could see how passionate they were about bringing Oliver home, no matter how many days, months or years it took him to land in Atlanta. :-)
From the outside looking in, I can’t even begin to comprehend the strength and patience it took this amazing couple to wait three long years for Ollie’s arrival! Needless to say, I was beyond excited to be among the small group of family and friends who welcomed him home late into the night on April 12th … and so honored to be asked to photograph their first hug, kiss, and smile together as a family!
I also need to say a big thank you to everyone who helped put this video together … from Ben and Dana’s friends, to my brother Raleigh. We couldn’t have done it without you guys!
